QUESTION
How do I assess the suitability of my ceiling height for a Flycatcher ceiling light?
ANSWER
Flycatchers are generally best suited to higher ceilings.
To help you assess the suitability of your ceiling’s height:
1. The distance from the floor to the base of the light should ideally be no less than 200cm.
2. This 200cm measurement should be added to the bowl height measurement and the chain to ceiling measurement of your chosen light which will give you the ideal ceiling height.
e.g.
Floor to the base of the light 200cm
Bowl height 14cm
Chain to ceiling height 47cm
Ideal ceiling height 261cm
The height of the flycatcher can be adjusted when fitting by removing a number of links from the chains (I suggest no more than 2 to 3 links) 1 link equals 2cm.
If the chains are shortened too much it puts a strain on the glass bowl.
The measurements for all lights are in the descriptions on my site www.itsalight.co.uk.
