Have you ever wanted to have something made specially for you or for a friend?

This lighting commission was created using a vintage Bolex cine camera had particular significance for this client and he wanted it converted into a light so he could see it and use it.

Rather than use a tripod for this light I decided to create a base plate and mount a tripod head to fix the camera.

I used a 1950s style twisted cord flex in black and an energy saving LED bulb.

There's no obligation and I won't take on a project that's not possible or would risk damaging the item. I will suggest a course of action and produce an initial visual of my design with the price.

This projector light was also a lighting commission. It was created to give the impression that it is still functioning and I have added an extra light source on the inside of the body creating a glow through the various grills and apertures.

Fitted with a FerroWatt carbon filament bulb. To switch the light on you turn the original projector switch (I have replaced the interior with new parts for safety).

The light also comes with two original film cans which I managed to source.

 

 

 

This lighting commission was built arround a wonderful classic Bolex 16mm cine camera.

The shiny shade curves to complement the camera's shape. The oversized opaque bulb is reminiscent of a photographic studio light; 'camera becomes light for camera'.

The lenses were sourced separately and were chosen for their looks, quality and relevance.

Every detail augments and completes this photographic icon. The chrome cable exit, the fabric covered flex and the large black switch all play their part.

The vintage tripod is a wooden version of today's aluminium studio tripods.
