Pair of 1930s-1950s maroon and yellow spatter glass  flycatcher hanging glass light shades.

Affectionately known as ‘flycatchers’, these hanging glass bowl ceiling light shades became popular during the 1920s through to the 1950s.

A perfect pair of original flycatcher glass bowl ceiling lights which look as good lit or unlit. The patterns are unique and no two flycatchers are identical.

I have carefully restored these salvaged lights to their former glory and fitted them with new brass components; chains, glass bowl hooks, 3-hook ceiling fitting, wooden pattress, lamp holders and maroon fabric flex. The ES (E27) lamp holders have been PAT tested for safety.

Each one is original and has been used, showing normal signs of wear and tear.

These Flycatcher ceiling lights come with everything you need to easily convert your existing ceiling fittings. Wiring should be carried out by a qualified electrician.

The wooden pattresses are supplied in plain varnished pine and can be painted to match your ceiling colour or contrast with it.

The flycatcher is fixed to the ceiling with a circular 3 hook ceiling rose and is supported by 3 chains. The height of the flycatcher can be adjusted when fitting by removing a number links from the chains (I suggest no more than 2 to 3 links).

Fitting instructions.

1. The wooden pattress should be securely fitted to the ceiling by a qualified electrician..

2. Wiring of the 3-hook ceiling plate and lamp holder should be carried out by a qualified electrician. Please Note: The 3-hook ceiling plate will need to be earthed using the supplied earth tag.

3. The bulb should not touch the bowl (approx 5cm away) and cable should be secured by tightening the cord grip.

This pair of 1930s-1950s maroon and yellow spatter glass flycatchers come complete with 12w LED (Dimmable) bulbs.
